Here you will find service information and answers to all questions about the RE.LIGHT light art festival. If you have any further questions or requests, the RE.LIGHT team is available at the festival headquarters in M26. Please feel free to talk to us.

 

Please observe the safety instructions posted at the venues for people with epilepsy or light sensitivity, small children and pets. Please do not bring food or drinks/bottles into the indoor areas.

 

Quiet retreat rooms are available for people with ME/CFS. The #LiegendDemo Regensburg, MECFS Regensburg and the Hotelverein Regensburg provide consumption-free rooms where affected persons can rest and reduce stimuli. These are open daily during the festival at the festival times:

  • Pinabar in the AltstadtQuartier Münchner Hof | Tändlergasse 9
  • Spitalgarten | St.-Katharinen-Platz 1 (Not open on 14 and 19 March 2026)
  • Altstadthotel Arch | Haidplatz 2–4

FAQ

From 12 to 22 March 2026, Regensburg will once again become a stage for international light art. Discover 15 light artworks by international light artists on a tour through the city. At 14 locations, impressive light projections and installations as well as immersive light shows will illuminate buildings and indoor spaces, inviting you to experience the city in a whole new light.

From 12 to 22 March 2026, the light artworks can be experienced daily from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

The light shows in Minoritenkirche and the Velodrom are only accessible with a combined ticket and during the time slots booked with the ticket. The light show lasts approximately 10 minutes, and approximately 20 minutes should be planned for the walk between the two ticket locations. Further information can be found here.

Yes! With the exception of two venues, all locations can be accessed free of charge. For the Minoritenkirche and Velodrom venues, a combined ticket with fixed time slots must be purchased for €14.00. More information can be found here.

For the light shows in the Minoritenkirche and the Velodrom, a combined ticket for €14.00 is available in advance here and during the festival also at the festival headquarters in M26, Maximilianstraße 26, and at the Tourist Information Office (Rathausplatz 4, Regensburg) Mon-Sat 9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sun 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m., tourismus@regensburg.de, tel. 0941/507-4410. Please note that there are no individual tickets for the respective artworks, only the combined ticket for both venues.

When booking the combined ticket, you must also choose a specific time slot during which you can visit the respective light show. You can choose between different categories with different time slots. These time slots are coordinated so that you can visit both venues one after the other. Please note that your combined ticket is not valid for time slots other than those booked or on other days. There is no ticket office at the venues themselves.

Art mediators will be on hand at several stations on the festival grounds to give you a better understanding of the light festival and the light artworks. Yes! From 12 to 22 March 2026, M26 at Maximilianstraße 26 will be the festival headquarters and your point of contact for information about RE. LIGHT. There, you can purchase a combined ticket for the Minoritenkirche and the Velodrom daily from 6 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., if not already booked online, or pick up some RE.LIGHT merchandise. The RE.LIGHT team is on hand at M26 to offer advice and assistance!

The map can also be accessed on your mobile phone and used as an offline version. You can also activate the live location on your mobile phone and let it guide you through the streets.

You can pick up a programme flyer during the festival at the festival headquarters at Maximilianstraße 26 and at the individual venues.

The entire tour and viewing of all the light artworks takes about three hours. Please note that the light shows in the Minoritenkirche and the Velodrom only take place at specific times and last approximately 10 minutes each. Beyond that, you are welcome to take as much time as you like at each station. A visit to the festival can also be spread out over several evenings – there is plenty to see and discover!

No, the tour can be planned individually and can be started at any station. However, please note that for safety reasons, a guidance system specifies a clockwise route. You can find your way around using the map in the printed programme or on the website, as well as the signs in the city.

Yes! In cooperation with the event agency STADTMAUS, a RE.LIGHT festival tour can be booked for €25.00. The tour includes a guided tour of the festival, including the light shows in the Minoritenkirche and the Velodrom, and lasts approximately 110 minutes. Tickets are available here:

Yes. The light artworks in the churches, in Leerer Beutel, in Degginger, in Velodrom and in M26 are located indoors, while all others are outdoors. We recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing.

Yes! At the festival headquarters in M26, you can buy great RE.LIGHT caps and RE.LIGHT beanies for €20 each and a RE.LIGHT scarf for €15.

Yes, lost property is kept at the RE.LIGHT festival headquarters in M26, Maximilianstraße 26, and can be collected during opening hours daily from 6 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
